The Ladies

In October 2007, Bruno held his first exhibition at La Petite Mort Gallery. Check out his artist statement below:

Bruno, a Gatineau-based artist, will hold a showing of his latest series: Relationships As A Life Form, November 16 2007, from 7 PM to 10 PM, at La Petite Mort Gallery.

The twelve beautifully ornamented paintings are an intimate series that place upon the faces of elderly women a sensuality that is usually associated with younger women.

The “little old ladies” are a symbol of the fragility and vulnerability that a person may suffer in a relationship that is ending, that moment when they feel most devoted. “What is fragile is beautiful,” declares the artist.

It is in this manner that Bruno seeks to shift from a selfish love, focused on a feeling of belonging to a single person, to a selfless love.
